The 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) have wrapped up in Dallas, Texas, with artists, entertainers and culture-shapers from across Africa and the diaspora taking home honours.

Held on September 12 at Annette Strauss Square, the 2026 ceremony marked AFRIMMA’s return after a two-year break. The event recognised winners across 41 honours, spanning regional music categories, major music awards and broader culture and impact categories.

Fally Ipupa emerged as one of the night’s biggest winners, taking home both Artist of the Year and the Crossing Boundaries with Music Award. Davido’s 5ive won Album of the Year, while BNXN and Sarz took Song of the Year.

These categories extended the ceremony beyond music, recognising entertainers, athletes, influencers and community figures whose work contributes to the wider African cultural landscape.

A Night Celebrating African Excellence

With 41 honours covering multiple regions, genres and creative fields, AFRIMMA 2026 showcased the breadth of African entertainment on one stage.

The ceremony also formed part of AFRIMMA’s expanded festival experience, which brought together African music, DJs, fashion, food and cultural activities in Dallas. The organisers say the wider 2026 experience drew more than 5,000 attendees, with over 100 artists and DJs representing more than 40 African countries.

From Fally Ipupa’s double victory and Davido’s Album of the Year win to regional honours for Tems, Tyla, Marioo and Gerilson Israel, AFRIMMA 2026 put the diversity of African music and culture firmly on the global stage.
