Looking for something to watch this weekend? These five Nollywood movies bring romance, family drama, comedy and plenty of unexpected turns, from a fake millionaire and a friendship hangout going too far, to two housemates whose constant fights slowly turn into something more.
1. Millionaire until Morning
What happens when escaping one difficult life means walking straight into another complicated situation?
"Millionaire Until Morning" follows Ndidi (Sophia Chisom), a young woman who has spent years suffering under her cruel stepmother, Matilda (Thelma Chukwunwem). Denied an education and forced to handle endless household chores, Ndidi's situation becomes even worse after her father dies.
Matilda eventually decides to "auction" her off in marriage to an older man for ₦1 million. With her relationship with Desmond already destroyed by Matilda's interference, Ndidi appears to have nowhere to turn.
Then Harrison (Chris Attoh), who presents himself as a wealthy CEO, offers her an escape.
But the lavish new life comes with a major catch: Harrison isn't actually a millionaire. As his deception comes to light, Ndidi must decide what matters more: the life she thought she was getting or the person Harrison has proven himself to be.
The film eventually moves beyond romance into forgiveness, family trauma and breaking cycles of bitterness.

2. Forever Yours
Ruby (Toni Tones) has always been determined not to experience the financial struggles she watched her mother endure. As a Lagos socialite, she is used to wealthy men paying her bills, so when she meets businessman Justin (Daniel Etim Effiong), she believes she has found the security she wants.
They fall in love and marry, but their comfortable life comes crashing down when Justin is arrested over alleged corporate financial crimes and his assets are frozen.
Suddenly, Ruby is confronted with the one thing she never planned for: poverty.
When Justin asks her to sell her luxury car to help save their home, Ruby has to decide whether she is truly committed to the marriage or only to the lifestyle that came with it.
What makes the story interesting is Ruby's eventual transformation. Instead of waiting for her old life to return, she starts a hair business, and begins building something of her own.
If you enjoy relationship dramas where the characters actually have to grow, this one is worth adding to the list.

3. One Night Too Far
Four university friends get together for what should be a simple night of drinks, games and catching up. Naturally, things don't stay simple for long.
"One Night Too Far" explores peer pressure, friendship, alcohol and the consequences of putting your private life online. As the friends loosen up, their games turn towards revealing secrets, and one reckless decision sends the entire night spiralling.
With social media documenting everything, the characters soon discover that some mistakes cannot simply be deleted.
Starring Sophia Chisom, Adedamola Adewale (Adeherself), Ruby Akubueze and Stefania Bassey, this is one for anyone who enjoys youthful dramas where a seemingly harmless night quickly becomes a complete mess.

4. Sister Agatha
If you've ever wondered what happens when church rivalry meets social media, "Sister Agatha" has an answer.
Agatha (Blessing Obasi Nze) is a strict, old-school head usher who prides herself on maintaining order and morality in church. Away from all these, however, she's drowning in debt and dealing with the disappearance of a husband she financially supported.
Then comes Sister Kelani (Kiekie), a younger usher who understands social media and uses it to attract new people to the church.
When the pastor announces a fully funded trip to London, the two women turn their rivalry into a competition of prayer, appearances and outright sabotage.
The result is a chaotic comedy-drama that pokes fun at religious hypocrisy, church politics, social media culture and the danger of judging people while hiding your own struggles.

5. My Housemate
Lizzie (Bolaji Ogunmola) returns home one day to discover that she has acquired a housemate.
Kofi (Nosa Rex), a struggling musician, has already moved into her apartment after paying rent. Lizzie was willing to refund Kofi, but Kofi refused and insisted on staying, leaving the two strangers with no choice but to live together.
And they absolutely cannot stand each other.
From arguments over chores and drying clothes to fights about food and kitchen space, Lizzie and Kofi turn everyday living into a battlefield. But underneath all that irritation are two people dealing with financial pressure, career struggles and their own insecurities.
Eventually, the hostility begins to soften into friendship and attraction. Then their respective romantic pasts return to complicate everything.
If you like the "we can't stand each other... until we suddenly do" kind of romance, this could be your weekend pick.
