If you’re looking for something new to watch this weekend, Nollywood has plenty of options across romance, family drama and stories that explore the complications of love, identity and trust.
From a wedding planner racing against her 30th wedding to an unlikely romance between a social media star and a street hustler, here are five Nollywood movies worth adding to your weekend watchlist.
1. My 30th Wedding
My 30th Wedding is a Nollywood romantic comedy about Elamosi Ogbeta (Bimbo Ademoye), a successful wedding planner who has organised 25 weddings for her clients but is yet to find a husband herself. With the number of weddings getting planned by her approaching 30, pressure from her mother to settle down pushes her to set a deadline for finding love.
Her family friend, Osaze, offers a seemingly straightforward path to marriage, but things take an unexpected turn when her work brings her into the life of Lekan Wellington (Timini Egbuson), a wealthy technology entrepreneur and widower who hires her to organise a memorial gala for his late wife.
Although their relationship begins with professional friction, Elamosi and Lekan gradually develop feelings for each other. However, Lekan's young daughter struggles to accept Elamosi, while a scheme orchestrated by his household staff creates misunderstandings that threaten their relationship. As the truth emerges, the couple must confront questions of trust, forgiveness and family before they can find their way back to each other.
