Burna Boy Reaches New Spotify Milestones as 'Dai Dai' Tops Global Chart

Burna Boy has reached new heights on Spotify as "Dai Dai" tops the Global Top Songs chart, sets a new monthly listeners record for an African artist, and helps him become the first African act with 21 songs to surpass 100 million streams.

Burna Boy continues to redefine what is possible for African artists on the global stage.
The Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar has reached another career milestone after his hit collaboration with Shakira, "Dai Dai," climbed to No. 1 on Spotify's Global Top Songs chart.

The song amassed 4.215 million streams to reach the summit, making Burna Boy only the second African artist to ever top the global Spotify chart. The only other African act to achieve the feat is Wizkid, who reached No. 1 through his appearance on Drake's global hit "One Dance."

The success of "Dai Dai" has extended far beyond the song itself.

Driven by the track's impressive streaming performance, Burna Boy reached 46.84 million monthly listeners on Spotify, setting a new all-time record for an African artist. In doing so, he surpassed the previous record of 46.58 million monthly listeners, which had been held by South African Grammy winner Tyla.

"Dai Dai" has also crossed 100 million streams on Spotify, adding another landmark to Burna Boy's growing catalogue of global hits.

With the latest achievement, the Nigerian star has become the first African artist to have 21 songs surpass 100 million streams on Spotify. The milestone reflects not just the success of one record, but the remarkable consistency of a catalogue that continues to attract millions of listeners worldwide.

Unlike many artists whose streaming numbers are driven by one breakout hit, Burna Boy has steadily built a body of work that continues to perform years after its release. Songs from acclaimed albums such as African Giant, Twice As Tall, Love, Damini, and I Told Them... continue to draw significant streams, while newer releases have kept his momentum firmly intact.

The latest run also highlights the continued rise of African music on the global stage. Over the past decade, Afrobeats has evolved into one of the world's fastest-growing genres, with Nigerian artists regularly breaking streaming records, topping international charts, and selling out arenas across Europe, North America, and beyond.

Burna Boy has remained at the forefront of that movement. From Grammy recognition and sold-out world tours to chart-topping collaborations and streaming milestones, he has consistently expanded the global reach of African music.

His latest achievements with "Dai Dai" add yet another chapter to that journey. By becoming only the second African artist to top Spotify's Global Top Songs chart, setting a new record for monthly listeners by an African artist, and extending his record to 21 songs with over 100 million Spotify streams, Burna Boy continues to cement his place among the most influential artists Africa has ever produced
