The Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar has reached another career milestone after his hit collaboration with Shakira, "Dai Dai," climbed to No. 1 on Spotify's Global Top Songs chart.
The song amassed 4.215 million streams to reach the summit, making Burna Boy only the second African artist to ever top the global Spotify chart. The only other African act to achieve the feat is Wizkid, who reached No. 1 through his appearance on Drake's global hit "One Dance."
The success of "Dai Dai" has extended far beyond the song itself.
Driven by the track's impressive streaming performance, Burna Boy reached 46.84 million monthly listeners on Spotify, setting a new all-time record for an African artist. In doing so, he surpassed the previous record of 46.58 million monthly listeners, which had been held by South African Grammy winner Tyla.
"Dai Dai" has also crossed 100 million streams on Spotify, adding another landmark to Burna Boy's growing catalogue of global hits.
With the latest achievement, the Nigerian star has become the first African artist to have 21 songs surpass 100 million streams on Spotify. The milestone reflects not just the success of one record, but the remarkable consistency of a catalogue that continues to attract millions of listeners worldwide.
Unlike many artists whose streaming numbers are driven by one breakout hit, Burna Boy has steadily built a body of work that continues to perform years after its release.
