DJ Pretty Play Completes 300-Hour DJ Marathon in Guinness World Record Attempt

DJ Pretty Play has completed a 300-hour DJ set in Lagos, with her Guinness World Record attempt awaiting official verification.

Nigerian disc jockey Princess Ntuk Williams, popularly known as DJ Pretty Play, has completed a remarkable 300-hour marathon DJ set in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest club DJ-ing session.

The endurance run, which began on March 3, 2026, at Bay Lounge in Lekki, Lagos, concluded on March 22 after 12 consecutive days behind the turntables. While the feat has been successfully completed, it is currently awaiting official verification from Guinness World Records.

A Record Attempt Built on Discipline

DJ Pretty Play initially set out to achieve 288 hours but pushed beyond her target to reach 300 hours.

The attempt required months of preparation, including fitness training, medical check-ups, and a three-day test run to build endurance.

Speaking ahead of the challenge, she described the motivation behind the attempt as deeply personal.

Pushing myself beyond comfort and also to prove that discipline can take it further than fear,” she said. “I just wanted to do something that could put me out there, something that I could proudly say I achieved myself.”

Her journey was not without setbacks. During an earlier phase of the attempt, she was forced to restart after a rule violation involving song repetition, a strict guideline under Guinness regulations, which require that songs cannot be repeated within a four-hour window.

The Rules Behind the Challenge

Under Guinness World Records guidelines, marathon DJ attempts come with strict conditions.

Participants are allowed five minutes of rest per hour, which can be accumulated, but must maintain continuous performance while adhering to detailed music rotation rules.

DJ Pretty Play acknowledged the mental and physical demands of the process, particularly the challenge of maintaining focus over several days with minimal sleep.

After three days without sleep, your visuals are not as sharp, and it’s easy to forget or skip songs,” she explained. “Maintaining the sequence for days is really challenging.”

More Than a Record

Beyond the endurance feat, the attempt carries a deeper message.

DJ Pretty Play has emphasized that the challenge is about more than breaking a record, it is also about visibility and representation, particularly for women in the entertainment industry.

Tired of being overlooked,” she said. “For years, I’ve watched the industry celebrate hype over discipline. I’ve put in the work quietly, and I realised something had to change if I wanted my story told properly.

She described the 288-hour target as symbolic of sacrifice and commitment, noting that the goal was never about convenience but about pushing limits.

Awaiting Official Confirmation

The current Guinness World Record for the longest marathon DJ set stands at 244 hours, 2 minutes, and 16 seconds, set by Italy’s Fabrizio Morero in 2024.

If DJ Pretty Play’s 300-hour set is officially ratified, it would surpass the existing record and mark a historic achievement, potentially making her the first Nigerian female DJ to hold the title.

For now, the attempt remains under review, with Guinness expected to assess submitted footage and witness documentation before confirming the result.

Regardless of the outcome, DJ Pretty Play’s marathon performance has already captured attention, highlighting endurance, discipline, and the growing visibility of women in the DJing space.
